Project: Re-Design (Part 3)

If you’ve been following, then you might be wondering what style ring was chosen to be the new home for the 19 diamonds that were removed from the original. If you are – read on! If you have no idea what I’m talking about and have read the first two posts, then start here.

The original was gold and this gal actually prefers a white metal. We’re using Sterling Silver for this ring and already have the main body made. Here it is:

Not the best picture, I know, but if I make it too good, you’ll stop reading! So the original ring has 19 diamonds and they’re not all the same size. This ring is actually set up to take more stones of the same size so we’re going to make some adjustments.

First, we’re going to remove the settings that we don’t need and replace them with a solid band of silver about the same depth and width so the transition doesn’t look odd. Next  we’re going to measure each of the 19 diamonds to get their exact size. And finally, we’ll prepare each setting to handle exactly the size diamond that it’s going to receive. Any larger or smaller, and the diamond either won’t fit or will be too small to be secured into the setting. So we’ve still got some work to do. Off to the bench!

Here’s the update!
